Identify components before wetting them

Start with the label and model specification. A shoe can combine materials and finishes that need different treatment. Do not infer composition from colour or from being sold as sports footwear. Check the upper, sole, laces and insole separately.

Cleaning does not certify that footwear retains its original properties. SportLoop has not tested detergents or measured the outcome of these methods.

Materials: a checklist

Nike distinguishes common textiles from leather and suede, which require specific precautions. Mesh describes a structure, not permission to wash it. If the finish is undocumented, do not automatically apply a recipe intended for white canvas.

Before removing an insole, check that it is removable. Laces and soles can have different instructions from the upper. The table helps locate information; it is not a universal cleaning recipe.

Swipe the table to see all columns. With a keyboard, focus the table and use the arrow keys.

Washing machines: sources differ

Nike advises against machine washing. At adidas, the US running-shoe article describes a cold, gentle cycle, while the Singapore help page advises against machine washing. These differing documents cannot be turned into one common rule.

We do not interpret the general article as permission to machine-wash Runfalcon 5. Prioritise the label or instructions for the exact reference. If they do not address the question, obtain clarification from the manufacturer before applying that method.

Drying and checks before storage

The consulted sources include air drying. Check the manufacturer’s specific conditions and allow time for the interior to dry; a dry-looking exterior does not prove the insole is dry. We give no universal timescale because materials and surroundings vary.

Before wearing the shoes again, visually check seams, joins and remaining dirt. This observation does not guarantee safety or establish a lifespan in kilometres. For fit and intended use, see the walking and road-running guides. Related models do not imply that we tested their washing.

Methodology

Prepared with Codex assistance. Automated checks do not replace the owner’s editorial approval or any required specialist review.

  • Documentary analysis of the linked sources. We have not physically tested these products or measured their performance.

Limitations

  • The instructions for the specific model take precedence. Comparisons are reading criteria, not guarantees of safety, lifespan or performance.
